SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Arts and Sciences Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology. The successful applicant will engage in research involving undergraduate students. 

The area of expertise is open, but we are particularly interested in applications from candidates in the area of Social Psychology, broadly defined. We are eager to hear from candidates with demonstrated commitments to both teaching and research, as well as cultivating diversity in the university and professional work environment. We are likewise interested in candidates whose teaching complements the current specialty areas in the program, as well as those whose research interests could contribute to campus wide initiatives in artificial intelligence, data science, and/or healthcare innovation.

The SUNY Poly Psychology program has research capabilities and equipment that the successful candidate would be able to use, including (1) a newly renovated multipurpose psychology laboratory with an observation room, recording space, and individual testing rooms equipped with computers and state-of-the-art equipment, including comprehensive research software, a high-performance eye-tracking system, and advanced thermal imaging system, and (2) a neuroscience laboratory with an advanced 256-channel EEG system.


Job Description:

Description of Duties:

  • Specific duties will include teaching three courses per semester, in addition to maintaining an active research program. During the first two years of the appointment, it is typical to have a reduced teaching load of two classes per semester, providing an opportunity to establish a research program and develop courses. This reduced course load may continue pending research productivity. Faculty may also use funds from externally-sponsored research programs to reduce their teaching loads. 
  • Other responsibilities include contributing to the assessment and continued development of Psychology courses and contributing to the University community through committee service and other activities. 

Salary Range: $68,000 - $85,000

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization
