Job Description:

Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks an oral pathologist as full-time, clinical faculty for our new dental school in Joplin, Missouri. The faculty member will be responsible for the development of the didactic, pre-clinical and clinical oral pathology curriculum, integrating evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care as well as guiding current research and scholarly activity in dentistry. The oral pathology faculty member will collaborate with, and educate the dental Group Practice Leaders, Assistant Group Practice Leaders, simulation faculty, and clinical faculty in the current science of oral pathology for patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Candidates must demonstrate a passion for dentistry and the application of oral pathology didactic principles to preclinical and clinical patient care and have a strong desire to teach students in a demanding, fast-paced, academic environment
  • Develop goals, objectives and policies for the oral pathology dental education program within the KCU College of Dental Medicine
  • Implement and deliver the oral pathology didactic curriculum including pre-clinical materials, simulation and laboratory exercises
  • Integrate evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care and guide current research and scholarly activity in oral pathology
  • Assure the safe and effective delivery of dental care by the dental students
  • Demonstrate and guide appropriate behavioral management techniques when indicated
  • Deliver clinical patient care as needed
  • Serve as an advisor, coach and/or mentor to dental students expressing a desire for advanced education in oral pathology
  • Mentor dental student research in the area of oral pathology when applicable
  • Serve as faculty advisor for community-based activities in the realm of oral pathology
  • Conduct summative and formative pre-clinical and clinical student assessment in oral pathology
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or Dean

Qualifications:

  • D.D.S./D.M.D. degree
  • Certificate of completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education Program in oral pathology
  • Current Missouri dental license or have an active dental license in a US state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in related field
