Job Description

The tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in Management will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Management courses such as, but not limited to, Business Communications, International Business, Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and Managerial Strategy and Policy in the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET). The successful candidate will also be responsible for addressing student and program needs in Management through broad contributions to both the BBA in Management and Entrepreneurship program and MBA in Management program. This candidate will also assist Management faculty with teaching courses to fulfill curriculum goals and objectives while supporting the overall missing of the department and College. The successful candidate for this position will regularly publish quality research related to management and other closely related field. This candidate will have an interest in supporting initiatives established by the department and college related to management and entrepreneurship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach assigned general business and management courses.
  • Teach schedules comprised of up to 21 scholastic credit hours during an academic year (3/4 or 4/3 teaching load) which may comprise of a combination of undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with AACSB standards.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.
  • Contribute to curriculum, course development, program assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide services to the department, college, university, community, and the profession.
  • May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies and internships.

           

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

Education Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. or DBA in Management or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited or equivalent college or university prior to start date and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges with appropriate academic credentials verified by Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s faculty credentialing processes. ABD candidates may be considered if PhD or DBA is earned prior to start date.

Skills Requirement:

  • Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to effectively mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to work with all segments of the student population.
  • Ability to develop viable management and entrepreneurship program.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of programs.
  • Capability of teaching more than one discipline.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty within and across disciplines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Documented capability of teaching, scholarship, and service in Management commensurate for appointment at the assistant or associate professor rank.
  • Experience in teaching lower division courses utilizing current technologies supporting both face to face and virtual learning environments at the university level.
  • Able to effectively use Canvas and various online teaching tools.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Industry knowledge in the field of Management.
  • Track record of excellence (or evidence of potential) in teaching (including online) various general business, management, and entrepreneurship courses.
  • Evidence (or evidence of potential) of professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, or continuing professional development in any Management related field.
  • Experience with AACSB accreditation and assessment activities, including data collection, data analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with graduate program development.
  • Track record of developing STEM undergraduate and graduate business courses.
  • Familiar with experiential learning practices.

Reports directly to the Dean of the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology.
