Job Description:

SUNY Polytechnic Institute's Utica campus invites applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Data Science & Analytics, starting Fall of 2024. The field of specialization is open. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can teach graduate and undergraduate courses including Data Collection and Design of Experiments; Data Analytics Tools; Machine Learning; Big Data Platforms; Social Network Analysis; and/or Visual Analytics. The teaching load is two to three courses per semester, with course reductions available for faculty who are active in research and scholarship. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty from a variety of disciplines, including mathematics, business, computer science, and the social sciences, in order to strengthen SUNY Poly's interdisciplinary community of inquiry in data science and analytics. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: $70,000 - $110,000

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. degree in data science, mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a closely related field by August 10, 2023, from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. 
  • Demonstrated potential for a productive program of research and scholarship. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with online teaching.
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse student and/or faculty populations, and in supporting accessibility for students.
