Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy (Clinician Educator) Inpatient Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice

The Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC Mann) is seeking candidates for a Clinician Educator track faculty position based at Los Angeles General Medical Center Inpatient Psychiatry service located at Augustus F. Hawkins Mental Health Center on the Martin Luther King Medical Center campus in South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles General inpatient psychiatry service provides acute care treatment for 50 adults and 10 adolescents, and is the main teaching facility for the psychiatry residency at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and for other health provider teaching programs (i.e., occupational therapy, recreational therapy, psychology, and nursing).  Priority will be given to candidates with a strong background in patient care and clinical teaching. The successful candidate will be appointed as Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Clinician Educator) for the USC Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, with the rank assigned determined by experience, expertise, and established academic excellence and leadership.  Additional training or experience in adolescent psychopharmacology is advantageous.

The successful candidate will precept and coordinate APPE and IPPE student experiences in addition to PGY1 and PGY2 clinical pharmacy resident rotations at the Los Angeles General inpatient psychiatry service.  Candidates must possess excellent interdisciplinary communication and coordination skills and have experience and aptitude in coordinating care transitions from inpatient psychiatry to outpatient services. The Clinician Educator faculty member will devote 80% of time to clinical teaching/mentoring and patient care activities with 20% of time devoted to scholarly activities and University service. Annual merit salary increases and eligibility for promotion presumes the demonstrated excellent performance by the Clinician Educator faculty member in teaching and patient care, with value of these pursuits to the inpatient and outpatient mental health services illustrated within Los Angeles County’s vast healthcare system. This position does not lead to consideration for tenure.

Required Credentials and Experience:
Applicants must have a PharmD degree, and California licensure (or eligibility for licensure with passing the State Board exam at the first available sitting). Completion of an ASHP accredited psychiatric pharmacy residency and board certification in psychiatric pharmacy is also strongly preferred. A record of professional leadership and evidence of engagement in scholarship is also preferred.

Merit review is conducted annually from which salary enhancements are decided. Re-appointment and eventual promotion are expectations based on performance assessment and longitudinally via administrative review, dossier submission and internal and external review utilizing the applicable USC Mann Promotion Guidelines.

The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $160,000.
