The University of Cincinnati, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking academic and clinical endocrinologists. Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates (MD/MD-PhD) with strong active research portfolios: generous start-up packages are available. The Division has a strong record of research leadership and mentoring. Areas of research (basic, translational to clinical) include Diabetes, Obesity and Cancer Metabolism. Opportunities exist for collaboration with pediatric division at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in clinical care of transition patients and research projects Applicants with dual training in internal medicine and pediatrics are encouraged to apply.

 

 


Essential Functions

Perform clinical and some research tasks, (including obtaining consent from patients in a HIPAA compliant environment), learning Epic data entry, clinic operations, research techniques both on our campus and off-campus with our collaborators/colleagues, data compilation and IRB document preparation for Endocrinology patients within a complex academic medical center.

 

Clinical activities (80% - could vary based on research/education/administration volume)

  • See patients in the outpatient clinics, fellows’ clinics and inpatient setting,
  • Perform exams, write H & Ps, submit level of Eval & Mgmt coding, perform procedures at various UC Health or UCH-contracted facilities,
  • Interact with peers, residents, fellows, technicians and other research staff as needed,
  • Be responsible for personal and general health and safety laboratory issues,
  • Participate in Medical Grand Rounds, seminars, and conferences at both UCMC and CCHMC locations.

Research/Administration/Education (20% - could vary based on clinical volume)
  • Remain current in research related to the Endocrinology population,
  • Collaborate with peers in obtaining extramural clinical research funding.  Serve as the Research Coordinator for those studies which are approved,
  • Adhere to the policies of the Human Research Committee,
  • Screen, identify, and enroll patients for clinical trials performed in the Endocrinology Division. Work as liaison with research staff,
  • Assist with examination and care of clinical trial patients.  Collect, store, and draw specimens as determined per research protocols,
  • Intermittent travel related to clinical trials and/or grants, as needed,
  • Assist with budgeting activities for new clinical trials,
  • Maintain all regulatory documents as required by the FDA, sponsor and/or IRB for all studies.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a M.D., MD/PhD degree or equivalent. Board Eligible or Board Certified Endocrinologist. Candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in Ohio.
