The University of Akron, A Division 1 FBS institution and member of the Mid-American Conference is seeking applications for an athletics tutor.  This position will be responsible for tutoring student-athletes in the areas of Math and Statistics.

This position will provide additional clarification and reinforcement of material presented in the college classroom or via online instruction.  Need to teach new skills and strategies to use in the classroom and effectively learn the material.  Must assist students in becoming proficient in Math and/or Statistics.  Tutors will be assigned specific students and subjects and will meet on a weekly basis.  Occasionally, a tutor may be asked to meet with a student for a one-time apppointment.  You will also assist staff members and academic learning assistants with students and collaborate with other tutors.  Complete daily reports and document attendance.  Complete weekly reports and collaborate with tutoring Coordinator.  Assist with test preparation, reviewing and/or content remediation.  Provide group and individualized tutoring sessions.  Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED.  Requires thorough knowledge of the Math and Statistics and explain concepts.  Must be responsible and professional and have excellent communication skills.  Previous tutoring experience teaching or tutoring is preferred.


Minimum $8.60 hrly
