Position Summary
The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in sports media and communication. The School seeks to expand its program of research and teaching in the field of sports and media, especially aspects of the field related to digital convergence, social media, sports journalism, sports media production, and/or sport organizational communication. The ideal applicant will have an active program of research focused on sports and media with the ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant will be expected to play a key role in refining and expanding our sports media program, contribute to the intellectual and professional development of students, and interface with key constituents within the sports media industry.
The Media School houses the Sports Media Program, one of the fastest-growing programs of its kind in North America with over 250 undergraduate majors from across the globe. The program features nearly a dozen sports media-specific courses and is supported by the National Sports Journalism Center. The school serves nearly 1,900 undergraduate majors in four degree programs (Journalism, Media, Game Design, and Cinematic Arts) incorporating 11 concentrations. The school also offers graduate degrees (M.A., M.S. and Ph.D.) to approximately 75 graduate students, of whom two-thirds are in a doctoral program. Our state-of-the-art facilities include equipment for television, film and audio production, game design and communication research. The school is home to approximately 70 faculty members and 50 staff members, all working to foster excellence in the practice and study of the media arts and sciences. Faculty members maintain active programs of research cutting across the social sciences and critical humanities, teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to service at the school, campus, and national/international levels.

Basic Qualifications
