Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) School of Pharmacy is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in Social & Administrative Sciences in the Clinical Sciences Department. Primary responsibilities include teaching and mentoring student pharmacists and graduate students, conducting and engaging in collaborative research and service. This full-time position is located at the main MCW campus in Milwaukee, WI. Candidates with interests in health outcomes and research in pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, pharmacoeconomics, and pharmacy services are encouraged to apply.

Opportunity

MCW School of Pharmacy is one of the few pharmacy schools in the country offering a three-year accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Our innovative program will provide student pharmacists with early and extensive exposure to a variety of clinical settings and world-class research in specialties such as precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, cancer and psychiatry. This faculty position provides a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative pharmacy program and shape the education and clinical service initiatives in a vibrant health science campus. MCW provides learners with the knowledge, skills and abilities to practice at the top of their pharmacist license upon earning their degree. Over half of the PharmD gradates pursue post-graduate training, with most recent success being 92% placement.

Core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop, coordinate, and teach course content in an integrated doctor of pharmacy curriculum
    • Core courses include evidence-based practice and population health.
    • Develop and collaborate with relevant programs to offer pharmacy education in drug information, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, health care delivery, and quality improvement.
    • Collaboratively develop and deliver didactic education via innovative teaching methods with an emphasis on interprofessional/interdisciplinary education that includes lectures, active learning, asynchronous content delivery, laboratory experiences, group activities, and other instructional modalities that also supports the new PharmD Concentrations.
    • Conduct and develop a sustainable independent research portfolio in public health, population health, health outcomes, pharmacoepidemiology, or a related field that advances the mission of the School of Pharmacy and MCW. 
    • Collaborate with other MCW programs and mentor pharmacy, medical, and graduate students in research.
    • Contribute to service in the School of Pharmacy, MCW, and the profession/discipline.
    • Provide mentoring with pharmacy students throughout the curriculum.

Faculty in this position are immersed in a vibrant academic health science campus that continues to advance its research mission in collaboration with various Departments, Centers and Institutes. Collaborative opportunities exist with the MCW Institute for Health & Equity, which offers the Master of Public Health and other graduate degrees.  The Institute seeks to improve health and advance health equity through community, academic, clinical and policymaking partnerships.  Faculty are eligible to become members of the Center for Advancing Population Science (CAPS), Cancer Center and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeastern Wisconsin, a consortium of eight regional organizations whose mission is to advance the health of the community through research and discovery that is located on the MCW Milwaukee Campus.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned Ph.D., and/or PharmD or equivalent degrees in a field related to pharmacy administration, population health, or public health.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the program in a progressive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner.  

In addition, candidates should have the ability to collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to sustain a culture attentive to interprofessional education, have demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and group communication skills. Candidates who have research, grant writing, an established track record of research, and publication experience will be given priority. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ideal candidates will be qualified for secondary appointments in MCW School of Medicine departments or Institutes.

School of Pharmacy

The MCW School of Pharmacy is preparing the next generation of pharmacists to practice at the top of their licenses, fully prepared for the new demands and opportunities of a rapidly evolving profession. Our three-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program – based at a prestigious academic medical center – provides students extensive exposure to a variety of clinical settings and world-class research.
