Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. Hoxworth Blood Center is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

A full time Faculty position is available at Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC).  This position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Research track, non-tenured or tenured-track.  Position and track will depend on academic accomplishments and programmatic expectations.

HBC is located within the Academic Health Center campus of the University of Cincinnati, and has established connections with world-class research departments that support a highly collaborative biomedical research environment and a special partnership relationship with Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation (CCRF) and the Innovation Hub of the University of Cincinnati.

HBC, the COM and CCRF offer access to a wide variety of shared core facilities, including animal facility, state-of-the-art flow cytometry, high-resolution microscopy cores, GMP compliant research spaces and access to the HBC enterprise blood donor resources providing candidate faculty with an exciting opportunity to engage in collaborative cutting-edge research in transfusion, cell therapies and regenerative medicine.


Essential Functions
  • Develop innovative, externally funded research programs supported by competitive research grants.
  • Develop and lead an outstanding extramurally funded research program and contribute to the educational (and clinical, if pertinent) mission of HBC.
  • Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
  • Participate in department's continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide education to other health care professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D. and productive prior research.  Candidates with expertise in hematology, hematopoietic biology and therapy, immunology and/or immunotherapies are encouraged to apply.
