About the Department

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering currently has 45 faculty members and an enrollment of about 1300 undergraduate and 270 graduate students. The Department offers ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S., Master of Engineering, and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Materials Science and Engineering. Also, the B.S. and the M. Eng degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering are offered. The Department has research focus areas in Structural Dynamics, Advanced Manufacturing, Thermal-Fluids Science, Applied and Computational Mechanics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science and Industrial & Systems Engineering. Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Engineering and Applied Science seeks to hire a Professor - Educator at the Assistant or Associate rank in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME). Rank and salary will be negotiated commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.


Essential Functions
  • Teach the undergraduate engineering capstone courses in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) programs.
  • Teaching undergraduate coursework such as but not limited to Numerical Methods and/or Statics & Particle Dynamics in a traditional classroom and/or laboratory setting.  
  • Participating in service related activities such as serving on the undergraduate curriculum committee and providing course assessment data for ABET. 
  • May participate in curriculum and course development, including distance learning classes and e-learning experiences. 
  • Advising undergraduate student project teams such as Formula Car and mini Baja. 

Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required prior to the effective date of the appointment.
