Job Summary
East Tennessee State University’s Respiratory Therapy Program is accepting applications for a full-time tenure or clinical track, Director of Clinical Education at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Management of the program’s clinical activities including organization, development, and administration of the clinical curriculum.
  • Planning for, acquisition of, and communicating with, locations needed for the development of evolving practice skills.
  • Ensuring that appropriate supervision/assessment of students is available at all clinical sites.
  • Ongoing assessment of the overall effectiveness of the clinical training for all students.

Opportunities exist for teaching in the Allied Health Master’s Degree Program.
The position is contingent upon sufficient funding.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree required from an accredited institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience teaching as an appointed faculty member, or as a clinical preceptor, in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or hospital.
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current Tennessee license or licensure eligible.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the CoARC accreditation Essentials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate or ABD.
  • Instructor certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP and proficiency in curriculum design, development, and student evaluation.
