The Department of Data Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) seek candidates with a strong background in statistics or machine learning for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to collaborate both with basic scientists and biomedical researchers at DFCI who are developing cutting-edge measurement approaches based on imaging technology, as well as with faculty at HMS and across Harvard advancing statistical and/or machine learning methods.

The faculty member will be based in the Department of Data Science at DFCI with an academic appointment in the Department of Pathology at HMS. They will have the opportunity to recruit students and postdocs through a variety of channels, including the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard and several training grants. Resources will be provided for building an active team of research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students, and candidates should be committed to fostering principles of diversity, inclusion, and belonging across their teams and throughout their research and education activities. The Departments of Pathology  at Harvard Medical School and Data Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute offer exceptional environments in which to pursue research and education in quantitative methods while being at the forefront of efforts to benefit the health of individuals or populations worldwide. The departments work closely together and many faculty members have joint appointments. Our faculty are experts in a wide ranging variety of areas in statistics and computational bIology and our applied research is enabled through collaboration with researchers in public health and medicine. For candidates with interests in tumor cell imaging in situ and tumor microenvironments, there are ample opportunities to collaborate with pathologists at Harvard affiliate hospitals and access state-of-the-art multiplexed imaging platforms.
