Job Summary:

The selected candidate will teach four classes per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level; advise graduate students; hold office hours; grade exams; conduct and publish scholarly research; perform university and professional service, as appropriate. Teaching will also involve mentoring of PhD student research and directing dissertations.
Perform department, university, and community service as appropriate for faculty at the rank of Full, Assistant or Associate Professor.

Required
PhD or other terminal degree, or a degree at least one level above the level of instruction, or otherwise approved as qualified by the Dean
Ph.D. or the equivalent in Philosophy required prior to start of appointment.

Qualifications:

Assistant professor candidates must show evidence of outstanding teaching and research potential and must be willing to teach upper and lower-level courses on a regular basis.
Associate and full professor candidates must, in addition to the above, have a distinguished record of philosophical research.

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Full, Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin August 21, 2023. This faculty position carries a teaching load of two classes per fall and spring semester, research, and a service component.

We are seeking candidates with a commitment to excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and professional service. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the Philosophy of Science.
