JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Behrend School of Science invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of either Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate/Full (tenured) Professor in Mathematics Education to begin August 2024. Responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics education and mathematics; developing and delivering lessons that reflect research-based teaching practices; supervising and advising students pursuing degrees in mathematics education; establishing a research program conducive to obtaining tenure and/or promotion and pursuing opportunities for external funding.

Candidates should possess both a master’s degree in mathematics education, mathematics, or a closely related field and a doctorate (Ed.D or Ph.D.) with a focus in mathematics education before the first day of employment. Applicants must hold a valid (current) teaching license. Individuals with experience with placement supervision are encouraged to apply, although all applicants will receive consideration.

The School of Science offers B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, mathematics education, nursing, physics, and environmental science.
