Job Description
 

The Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri – Columbia is seeking a full-time non-interventional Vascular Neurologist to join our vibrant and growing Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Join one dedicated vascular neurologist, two world-renowned combined vascular and endovascular neurologists, and two vascular neurosurgeons, as we expand our clinical offerings and research opportunities.  Build a telestroke program and explore the opportunity to become the Medical Director of TeleNeurology or the Comprehensive Stroke Center. Be a part of the Vascular Neurology Fellowship as well as the Endovascular Neuroscience Fellowship. Clinical and some didactic teaching is expected.

Opportunity Details: 

• Join a department of 30+ physicians and neuroscientists 
• Join vascular team of a vascular neurologist, two vascular and endovascular neurologists and two vascular neurosurgeons
• Neuroscience ICU staffed with dedicated Neurointensivist and a team of APP’s and residents
• Strong collaborations with Neurosurgery, Physiatry, Radiology and Anesthesia
• Robust Quality Improvement infrastructure
•  Actively participating in national StrokeNet program
• Opportunities to assist in the department's growth, the education of medical students and residents, and pursuit of other academic/research interests. 
• Inpatient service and night call in equal rotation with the vascular neurology group
• Outpatient Practice Schedule M-F 8 AM-5 PM when not covering the inpatient service, manage flexibility with time for rest
• Medical Director opportunities will be available
• All ranks available commensurate with experience

As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include:

• DNV-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
• A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU
• 30-bed Neurosciences ICU
• Level 1 Trauma Center
• AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status
• NAEC Level IV Epilepsy program
• Certified MDA/ALS clinics
• An accredited Sleep Program
• Outpatient infusion center

Our academic programs include a neurology residency program and the following six ACGME-accredited neurology fellowship programs:

o Clinical Neurophysiology
o Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (dual UCNS certification)
o Sleep Medicine
o Advanced Sleep Medicine
o Vascular Neurology
o Neuro Critical Care (dual UCNS certification)

In addition to clinical opportunities, NextGen Precision Health, MU Center for Translational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory offers a vast array of academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs with 30+ clinical trials in Neurology.

MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, comprehensive cerebrovascular disease, neurological intensive critical care, and headache. Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications: DO or MD medical degree; board-certified or board-eligible in neurology; Completion of an ACGME accredited- residency program; licensed or willing to obtain a license to practice in Missouri.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Vascular Fellowship Trained, Vascular board certified or board eligible.
