Job Description
 

The Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri – Columbia is seeking a full-time Neurointensivist to join our vibrant and growing Critical Care practice.

Join four Neuro-intensivists as we expand our clinical offerings and research opportunities.  Be a part of our accredited fellowship taking up to three fellows every two-year cycle.  Work with APP and resident staff to provide the leading level of care in the only dedicated Neurosciences ICU in mid-Missouri, having now expanded to 30 beds.  Clinical and some didactic teaching with the School of Medicine is expected.

Opportunity Details: 

• Join the neurology department of 30+ physicians and neuroscientists 
• Team of 4 Neuro-intensivists and 6 APP’s
• 3 ICU fellowship spots each 2-year cycle
• Work with Neurology, Neurosurgery and ED residents
• 30-bed brand-new NSICU
• Opportunity to staff tele-Neurology for surrounding in-patient centers
• Opportunities to assist in the department's growth, the education of medical students and residents, and pursuit of other academic/research interests. 
• Inpatient service and night call in proportionate rotation with critical care group
• No stroke call
• All ranks available commensurate with experience

As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include:

• A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU
• 30-bed Neurosciences ICU
• AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status
• NAEC Level IV Epilepsy program
• DNV-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Certified MDA/ALS clinics
• An accredited Sleep Program
• Outpatient infusion center

Our academic programs include a neurology residency program and the following six accredited fellowship programs: 

o Clinical Neurophysiology
o Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (dual UCNS certification)
o Sleep Medicine
o Advanced Sleep Medicine
o Vascular Neurology
o Neuro Critical Care (dual UCNS certification)

In addition to clinical opportunities, NextGen Precision Health, MU Center for Translational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory offers a vast array of academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs with 30+ clinical trials in Neurology.

About MU Neurology: 
MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, comprehensive cerebrovascular disease, neurological intensive critical care, and headache. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and multiple sclerosis.  
We have strong collaborations with Neurosurgery, Physiatry, Trauma, and Anesthesia.  We are part of a large catchment area with a premier Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 1 Trauma Center.

Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications: MD/DO, board certified in Neurology with additional fellowship training and experience in neurological intensive care.
