Description of Work Unit
The Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP) Department is comprised of over 400 individuals who share a common passion for solving some of the most important human and animal health problems today. Research programs include those related to clinical hematopathology and hematologic neoplasms, mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, zoonotic and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs.

Position Summary
We are pleased to announce a tenure-track position in Clinical Pathology at Colorado State University with potential to hire in at the rank of assistant, associate or full commensurate with experience. Responsibilities will include support of the diagnostic service at the CSU clinical pathology lab. The clinical pathology service offers a large, varied caseload, interaction with 7 board-certified clinical pathologists, 5 clinical pathology/graduate degree trainees, collaboration with an active Clinical Hematopathology service and opportunities to help expand/develop coagulation testing and immunocytochemistry services. Teaching will include a mixture of lecture, discussion and lab-based teaching of DVM students College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and resident training. Research efforts and scholarly activity will be tailored to individual interests and would be expected to align with clinical pathology focus and compliment current research efforts in the department; there is the potential for an expanded research commitment for well-qualified candidates.

Required Job Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) and be board certified with American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathologists (ECVCP). Candidates must be eligible for a Colorado academic veterinary license.

Essential Duties

Job Duty Category Teaching
This position will provide instruction to residents and veterinary students during the course of service activities. Teaching responsibilities include coordination of the 2nd year clinical pathology course, participation in DVM 2nd and 3rd year clinical pathology courses (lecture, discussion and laboratory), and resident/graduate focused courses, including both MIP and clinical sciences residents
