About the Department

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering currently has 44 faculty members and an enrollment of about 1290 undergraduate and 400 graduate students. The Department presently offers an ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S., Master of Engineering and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Materials Science and Engineering. The Department has research focus areas in Structural Dynamics, Advanced Manufacturing, Thermal-Fluids Science, Applied and Computational Mechanics, Nanotechnology and Materials Science, Intelligent System, Safety.

Job Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the new Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Program. A broad and diverse spectrum of candidates is sought; women, members of underrepresented groups, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged.   Rank, tenure, salary and startup funding will be negotiated commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications.

 

 The ISE Undergraduate program will be launched in the fall semester 2022, and the ISE Graduate program is planned to start in the fall semester 2023. The department has six faculty members who have strong Industrial and Systems Engineering background and many graduate students who conduct research in Industrial and Systems Engineering related areas.


Essential Functions

The successful candidates will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses specific to their specialty areas, develop externally funded research programs, publish research results in professional journals, advise graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in professional service activities such as editorial review, student career mentoring, advising of student organizations, serving on departmental, college and university committees, an performing outreach activities such as recruiting underrepresented students and holding workshops and seminars for industry. In addition, the successful candidates will participate in curriculum and course development.

 

Candidates will be expected to conduct data analytics and optimization research in areas such as, but not limited to, industry 4.0, Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, cybersecurity, healthcare systems, safety/ergonomics, supply chain management, energy systems, smart city, and advanced manufacturing.


Minimum Qualifications

Prior to effective date of appointment a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field is required.
