Employment is with the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly).

The Department of Computer Science at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) invites applicants for a tenure-track Information Systems faculty position beginning Fall 2024.

The Department of Computer Science at SUNY Poly offers Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Applied Computing. The department also offers a Master of Science program in Computer Science and an Accelerated BS/MS in Computer Science. The department is also actively involved in several capital efforts set to further improve our lab equipment and facilities.

The department is seeking an inspirational, engaging and dynamic colleague ready to take a leading role in the growth and direction of our Information Systems program while leveraging research and industry trends/connections to ensure our students gain the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to pursue advanced degrees or successful industry careers.  Department faculty also guide our undergraduate students in capstone projects, an opportunity for students to apply their acquired skills in real-world applications. Further, SUNY Poly faculty engage in industry collaboration and community outreach.


Job Description:

  • Develop, maintain, and teach the undergraduate Information Systems curriculum
  • Teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate Computer Science programs
  • Build a scholarly research program incorporating undergraduate and graduate students
  • Develop an externally funded research program
  • Advise students on academic matters
  • Serve the college and community
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned

SUNY Poly faculty members also engage in curriculum development, industry collaboration, and community outreach. Strong candidates in all areas of specialty will be considered, but those which address critical national and regional workforce needs may be given preference. 

Salary: Assistant - $90,000 - $100,000 / Associate - $100,000 - $115,000 / Full - $115,000 - $150,000

The above salary structures may vary depending on experience.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must have a PhD or ABD in Computer Information Systems (or a closely related discipline) from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization. 

Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.  This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
