Work Schedule
8am-5pm, 40 hours per week.
The incumbent in this position is required to have a flexible schedule to accommodate events on nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
This position is designated as mandatory staff during adverse weather or emergency events and, when contacted to report to work, the employee is expected to reach the campus as quickly as possible using normal precautions as dictated by adverse weather conditions. In the event of an area disaster, the Student Activity Center may be designated for use as an emergency shelter or for emergency operations.
Primary Purpose of Position
Under the leadership and guidance of the Associate Director of SAC Venue Management, this position serves as the Assistant/Associate Director of Events – with . responsibility for the oversight of the professional event services and facility management for the campus and the greater Charlotte community.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
  • This position serves as the event manager for hosted events in the Student Activity Center.
  • The incumbent in coordination with the Director of Events, manages and directs all aspects of events including event plans and staffing and assures the department provides a high level of customer service.
  • Responsibilities of this position include safety, coordination of event set ups, onsite interaction with customers, etc. Serve as game manager and/or event manager for a designated varsity sport.
  • Will also coordinate with campus departments for facility support as needed (Conference Services, Police, Parking, Facilities Management, Recycling, Waste Management).
Other Work Responsibilities
Other duties as assigned by Director of Events or Associate Athletic Director of Facilities and Event Operations. Follow all NCAA rules and regulations.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Bachelor’s degree.
Three to five years of large event, conference and/or game management experience.
Experience with managing full time staff, interns, and / or student staff.
Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with large groups, students, volunteers, guests, and/or the general public.
Experience with events specific diagramming and scheduling software.
Strong background in customer service, safety, and security
Experience and/or working knowledge of crowd management best practices, ADA requirements, fire code regulations.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
