Job Overview

 The School of Education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor-tenure track with primary responsibilities in the Higher Education program. The position’s start date will be August 15, 2022. The appointment will serve in our M.A., Ed.D and Ph.D. programs with concentrations in higher education.

Essential Functions

Establish and maintain an active research agenda; Actively apply for and secure external funding; Engage in research appropriate for the assistant/advance assistant rank; Teaching face-to-face and/or online classes both at the doctoral and master’s levels; Advise master’s and doctoral students as well as serve on masters/doctoral committees; Collaborate with other UC divisions and colleges to create graduate assistantships, internship, and research opportunities for current and prospective students; Participate in other intellectual/scholarly activities in the area of higher education. Establish and maintain relationships in the university and profession (e.g., AERA, NASPA, ASHE, CSCC, ACPA, NACAC, etc.).

 

Upon hiring, the candidate will teach master’s and doctoral level courses and advise graduate students’ research and projects. We welcome candidates from a variety of research interests pertaining to higher education, including, but not limited to, leadership, equity, access, affordability, student affairs, race, law, policy, minority-serving institutions, and community colleges. Scholars from various methodological backgrounds are encouraged to apply (e.g., qualitative, mixed-methods, quantitative). Successful candidates will work collaboratively with other academic programs, community agencies, and professional associations. Candidates with central interests in urbanicity and social justice are especially encouraged to apply.


Minimum Requirements

Earned doctorate in Higher Education or closely related field (ABDs will be considered if graduation date is prior to August 15, 2022); Evidence of teaching at least one- year focused on higher education at the undergraduate or graduate level face-to-face or online; At least one-year or equivalent of professional experience in functional areas of higher education such as, but not limited to, student affairs, admissions, external relations, or academic affairs environments; Evidence of scholarly research by the submission of at least one manuscript (e.g., peer-reviewed journal article, book chapter, or dissertation chapter).
