Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academics, the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic and Student-Athlete Support Services assists in the administration of the Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Program and has responsibility for the academic eligibility, graduation and personal development of all student-athletes within the program.  The incumbent serves as the administrator of a comprehensive, holistic academic services program for all Division I student-athletes in University College, Silberman College of Business and Petrocelli College, administers the Student-Athlete Academic Monitoring Program; provides direct supervision and oversight to Academic Advisor(s), graduate assistants and student interns; point person for Student-Athlete development programs; coordinates and solicits career development opportunities and programs for student-athletes; designs and programs New Student-Athlete and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Orientations and Mentor Programs; serves as the liaison to all academic departments, academic deans and multiple other University offices; and evaluates initial and continuing academic eligibility of students.  Coordinates and provides necessary information to the Compliance Office to ensure integrity of Student-Athletes per NCAA rules.
 
Required Qualifications:
1.     Master’s degree required, preferably in athletic administration/sport management, higher education, counseling or related field.
 
2.     Three (3) to five (5) years of experience at the university or college level, preferably in athletics or student services.
 
3.     Knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics rules and regulations.  Intercollegiate playing/coaching experience preferred.
 
4.     National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) Individual Certification (can be completed within first 90 days of employment).
 
5.     Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to student-athlete needs.  Ability to work as a team player and independently. 
 
6.     Commitment to support the academic progress and holistic development of student-athletes including a strong sense of integrity.
                                                                                                                                        
7.     Willingness to travel and work varied hours including evenings and weekends. 
 
8.     High degree of computer literacy is desired; preference for knowledge of Ellucian Colleague or similar educational software.
 
9.     Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle Policy.  A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university.  Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check. 
 
10.  Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.  Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
