Job Description

The Assessment Coordinator, under general supervision, will plan and manage multiple projects within the program to include implementing an established development process and monitoring project timelines, deliverables and performance objectives. The Assessment Coordinator will work closely with other program representatives within the division to ensure all projects managed by the assessment program meet their needs and align with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and accreditation requirements. This position will also coordinate the development process of testing documents from initial meetings with project teams to completion of the project, to include formatting and editing.

The Assessment Coordinator must be able to evaluate complex problems and come up with solutions that meet the needs of the division but do not compromise accreditation requirements. This position will maintain an operational understanding and expertise in Pro Board certification and accreditation, as well as assessment of adult learning in general.  Additionally, the Assessment Coordinator will motivate and engage team members in day-to-day operations, and model and instill the core values of the agency and division. The Assessment Coordinator will foster a positive and safe work environment for the department. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. (*Equivalent experience equals six years' experience with a high school diploma or GED OR four years' experience with an Associate's degree)

  • Two years of related experience, which may include interpreting and/or developing technical documents.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

Other Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A post-secondary degree required in a field such as education, training, and development, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Two years of program administration experience.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

Assist with assessment program administration: 30%

  • Work with CCE Program Director to develop and processes and workflows that will accomplish the variety of projects assigned to the Assessment staff.

  • Maintain standard operating procedures for the Assessment program.

  • Provide input on the program budget. 

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of Assessment projects to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.

Lead assessment team: 30%

  • Supervise the assessment team to ensure development products are maintained in accordance with division policies and procedures, Pro Board accreditation requirements, NFPA standards, and agency SAPs. 

  • Evaluate employee performance and offers feedback and guidance for improvement, when needed. Initiate performance management steps when appropriate. 

  • Perform all assignments with a positive team approach, providing customer-friendly service to both internal and external TEEX/ESTI customers.  Maintain an environment that is respectful of others and promotes honest feedback to and coaching of employees.

Execute the development process: 40%

  • Collaborate with programs and subject matter experts to plan and implement testing processes in a way that enhances candidate performance and meets all relevant standards, guidelines, and objectives. 

  • Coordinate and lead meetings with programs, to include interpreting technical information and planning, developing, and updating testing documents within established guidelines and standards.

  • Perform statistical analysis on testing data for high failure rates and consults with subject matter experts as necessary.  Prepare testing documents to be submitted for translation into other languages.  Edit, format, and organize testing documents to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.  Create and maintain all test banks and other testing documents in accordance with Assessment policies and procedures.

  • As part of the TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/ HQ Department Head.
