Department Summary

Located within HPS, the Department of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP) provides the finest graduate professional education in both speech-language pathology and audiology while maintaining an excellent undergraduate degree. The program stresses excellence in teaching, research, and service by its faculty and students. As a component of the educational program, the department operates the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, which offers professional services to members of our campus community and the general public for the purpose of providing clinical training for students. The Center offers state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
ASLP is seeking a part-time Clinic Office Support Associate to join the HPS family.
Position Summary
The Clinic Office Support Associate provides administrative support for the clinical office and general clinic operations at the UNT Speech & Hearing Center under the overall direction of the Clinic Director.
This person serves as the primary backup for the Front Desk Coordinator (as needed) and assistant to the Medical Billing & Coding Specialist (as needed). The Administrative Assistant works collaboratively with the Medical Billing Specialist, Front Desk Coordinator and student office workers to maintain efficient clinic operations. Duties include:
  • Serves as primary backup for the Front Desk Coordinator and ensures efficient reception operations, follow-up client phone/email communications, patient clinical scheduling, clinic room scheduling, according to guidelines provided by clinical directors and in coordination with the Front Desk Coordinator and Medical Billing Specialist
  • Consistently demonstrates effective communication with faculty, students, clients and caregivers, and the general public
  • Explains basic billing, and clinical service information to clients in a clear, concise, and accurate manner, and communicates different information to clients via electronic medical records system, all utilizing excellent customer service skills
  • Accepts and processes cash, check, and credit card payments for clinical services in accordance with the Cash Handling and Payment Security policies of the clinic and the university
  • Accurately enters client information into medical records, scheduling, and billing systems, including information regarding equipment and supplies purchases and scanning post-appointment reports into the electronic medical record system, as well to clients when appropriate
  • Assists in public relations efforts for the UNT Speech & Hearing Center, including the development of brochure and web development materials and the dissemination of UNT public service information
  • Performs a wide variety of administrative support duties in support of the clinic directors as requested or as regularly scheduled
  • Works collaboratively with the Medical Coding & Billing Specialist and Front Desk Coordinator to maintain efficient clinic operations

High school diploma and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
