The Art Director is responsible for creative design and production in the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management.

In this position, the Art Director creates relevant, powerful graphic solutions for recruitment marketing, student retention and internal and executive communications; plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our recruitment visual identity across projects; contributes to and manages the development of creative assets including marketing materials, presentations, print, digital and email; follows Ohio State’s brand guidelines within graphic design, motion design and photography/videography; oversees other designers and collaborates with other creative colleagues within the department, cultivating a culture of creativity and collaboration, and connects with the university community of designers; assigns projects and ensures on-time delivery; manages relationships with internal and external vendors; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree (preferably in graphic design, visual arts, UX/UI design or related field) and/or relevant experience in graphic design; Minimum six (6) years of professional design experience, successfully completing design projects across a wide range of traditional and digital applications; Demonstrates strong strategic design thinking skills to translate goals and objectives into functional and inspiring design outputs; Expert-level proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat); Ability to work within established brand guidelines and concept new ideas within the brand framework while maintaining visual continuity. Experience leading design projects and guiding the work of other creative staff and collaborators. Thrives in a cross-functional team environment. Experience working within a high-volume design environment that is deadline driven with an ability to manage multiple projects, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Strong understanding of, and ability to navigate print and premium production processes. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Desired:

Advanced degree in relevant field is desirable. Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of relevant experience preferred. Experience working in higher education; Experience designing within accessible digital properties; Experience utilizing digital asset management and project management systems.
