A short order cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Some specific responsibilities of a short order cook might include:
- Preparing and cooking food items to order such as sandwiches, burgers, and other menu items
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation, including washing dishes and utensils, sweeping and mopping the floor, and restocking supplies as needed
- Adhering to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures
- Monitoring food quality and presentation to ensure it meets customer standards
- Working closely with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service
