Architectural Designer

As the architectural designer, you should have experience in all phases of the design process, including conceptual and schematic design, design development, presentations, construction documentation, and construction administration. In addition to a high level of technical skill and applicable experience, you will be expected to do whatever it takes to make each project a success for SCAD. Responsibilities include producing graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings. You will be expected to use AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp software and provide construction, schedules, budgets, and other specifications. As the designer you will be responsible for reviewing design requirements, determining best design options for building projects, and modifying designs based on review comments from the assessment vice president.

The ideal candidate should be proactive, team oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with a focus on creating life-changing experiences for SCAD students. They will ensure best practices and SCAD standards are met, while adhering to all OSHA regulations and safe practices.

Minimum Qualifications:   

• Minimum of five years of related experience
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications: 

• M.Arch; registered arch; or master’s degree in architecture

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

• Registered architect or NCIDQ
• Valid driver’s license
• Passport

Travel Required:

•  20% to 40%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
