6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Program Manager 2 - Aquatics will assist with the operations and management of two commercial swimming pools, two spas, and one sauna to support comprehensive aquatic programs and events.  This position reports to the Aquatic Program Director.  Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

·         Operate and maintain two commercial swimming pools, two spas, and one sauna. Provide a safe and clean pool environment including pool decks, dive towers, pool surfaces, mechanical spaces, auxiliary spaces, and related equipment.

·         Operate and maintain water circulation, overflow, and filtration systems to ensure water clarity and provide for the maximum number of filtration cycles. Operate and maintain chemical delivery and chemical control systems to maximize the efficient use of pool chemicals. Ensure proper water chemistry to protect tile surfaces, equipment, and related structures from corrosion or scale.  

·        Assists with supervision and communication with student staff as related to measuring and recording water quality, ensuring adherence with regulatory requirements including American Red Cross standards, swim meet operations, and other events.

·         Purchase, store, inventory, and control the necessary chemicals and supplies for pool, spa, and sauna operations. Handles hazardous chemicals such as chlorine, muriatic acid, soda ash, etc. and test kit materials and follows safety procedures.

·         Schedule and oversee maintenance, and repair services with internal and external supports as needed.  Serves as the point of contact for technical pool operations to ensure effective, safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations through adherence to regulatory requirements.

·         Performs event set-ups including swim/dive/water polo setups and maintains, inventories, and purchases necessary meet operations equipment. 

·         Facilitate day of event operations of major and national swim and dive meets (i.e., Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, Gulf Swimming LSC events, High School Invitational and Regionals), and special events; periodically serve as departmental representative during meets, as well as the designated certified pool operator as required.

·         Assist with creating, forecasting, monitoring, and allocating the Aquatics budget and capital renewal; purchase and maintain necessary equipment and supplies.

·         Serve on internal and external committees, work groups and collaborate with campus partners; build relationships with stakeholders and participate in UH events to support student success and to promote Campus Recreation through engagement.

·         Assess, evaluate, and mitigate risk for program area through direct supervision and management; implement policies and procedures; maintain accurate records; create various reports, and contract agreements. 

·         Serve on rotating on call schedule for pool operations including nights, weekends, and university holidays.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

A Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Kinesiology, or related field and one year experience with successfully managing and operating commercial swimming pools. Applies extensive knowledge of standard swimming pool mechanical practices and methods according to local/state and national swimming pool regulations. Candidate must possess current PHTA Certified Pool Operator license and American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Additionally, the candidate should possess American Red Cross Lifeguarding   Instructor certification; if not already certified, they must be obtained within the first six months of employment. Team oriented ideals, willingness to work hard, and a desire to learn is important in this position. 

 

 
Salary: 3,881.00 - 5,047.00
