Summary of Job Duties:

Work hours:
Works 8 or 10 hrs shifts including weekends, nights and holidays.
The APRN will provide direct clinical services or consultation for patients according to established protocols and utilizing evidence based clinical practice standards in collaboration with a physician. The APRN will obtain patient health histories, complete physical examinations, and interpret hemodynamic data. This position will document pertinent normal and abnormal findings and order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with at least a Master’s in Nursing.

  • National Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. May have a certification as a Pediatric Nurse practitioner in either acute or primary care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement treatment plans for managing acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with the physician.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds as deemed appropriate.  

  • Document in medical records appropriately.  

  • Provide family-centered care to meet the child’s health care needs.  

  • Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice.

  • Participate in staff education, and educate other APRN students, residents and/or fellows.

  • Provide leadership and professional interaction within your team or to team members.  

  • Coordinate with families the care and progress of their child in person, by telephone, or by email as appropriate.

  • Communicate with others with mutual respect and professional demeanor.

  • Adhere to all standard policies and procedures.  

  • Participate in QI or research projects as deemed necessary by your department.  

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
