Performs and supervises subject recruitment, scheduling, and testing; develops engineering software and biomechanical models used to assess mechanical force imposed on the human spine during subject testing; oversees sponsored research projects, project management, facility set up, and laboratory tours; analyzes, models, and interprets literature and experimental results utilizing biomechanical, statistical, or machine learning models as appropriate; assists in preparation of research compliance documents, IRB submissions, proposals, reports, presentations, and publications; supervises and provides onboarding and training for undergraduate and graduate research assistants; coordinates project progress with SRI faculty and engineering staff; operationally maintains laboratory equipment and software; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s in engineering or 2-4 years equivalent education. 1-2 years of biomechanical engineering research; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written skills.

Desired:

Master’s degree in a relevant field of science or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in an academic research capacity; ability to independently meet research goals, solve problems, and develop scientific ideas.
