Department Description

The UC Davis West Coast Metabolomics Center (WCMC), in the Genome Center, College of Biological Sciences, coordinates interdisciplinary research in the areas of metabolomics and bioinformatics, and is dedicated to reaching out to regional, national and international scientists in order to provide services, advice and training in metabolomics. The WCMC increases the capacity for metabolomics by adding new services, software tools, databases and research in a range of metabolomic areas. The WCMC is currently performing research and services in five major cores with over 35 pieces of major instrumentation.



Job Summary

Perform data management and independent software development of small-to-medium scale projects and support data processing in the West Coast Metabolomics Center (WCMC). Duties include writing, testing and implementing code to improve data processing software within the WCMC. Further duties involve various tasks such as designing and implementing web sites, web pages and web services. These duties can be fulfilled on-site at UC Davis, or remotely from a location outside of UC Davis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Demonstrated experience with test driven or agile development.

·       Demonstrated experience with Python 3+ and Pandas.

·       Demonstrated experience with Angular and its Frameworks.

·       Demonstrated experience with CSS and related Frameworks like Bootstrap.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Excellent communication skills.

·       Knowledge of object-orientated programing concepts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Experience working with others in designing effective databases, referential integrity, and SQL performance tuning.

·       Demonstrated experience with Scala, Java and associated Frameworks like Spring, Hibernate and Maven.

·       Demonstrated experience with docker and docker-compose. Experience with the AWS platform and its components.
