Summary of Purpose
Oakland Community College is seeking a full-time Anthropology instructor who will participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses, and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the strategic plan of the program and college.
Knowledge and Skills Required

- Experience and interest in teaching first and second year Anthropology courses, particularly Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, and Myth, Magic, and Religion
- Experience in curriculum development for college-level lecture
- Interest in teaching some evening sections
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Experience and interest in course assessment
- Willingness to serve as coordinator for Anthropology courses
- Experience with distant learning pedagogy
- Recent participation in professional development
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to work as a team player in a multi-cultural, diverse working environment
- Expectation to participate in campus and college committees
- Experience working with laboratory support staff
- Proficiency using learning management systems (e.g., D2L or Canvas) for course delivery and/or assessment
Minimum Education and Experience
EDUCATION: Master's degree or higher in Anthropology
EXPERIENCE: Two years full time (or equivalent) of recent experience teaching freshman- and sophomore-level biology is preferred. Community college teaching preferred.

Part-time Classified employees are offered the opportunity to have medical, dental, vision at the full monthly premium; life insurance is also available at a nominal cost. Participation requires that benefit costs be taken via payroll deduction.
