To thrive in this role you must have experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. This position will cultivate donors through relationship building and balance the needs of the donors with institutional priorities. You will need to possess
working knowledge of marketing strategy and planning, donor/customer identification, donor/customer relations and engagement, proposal development and individual solicitation.

You must have demonstrated ability to in soliciting annual gifts and success in fundraising, the ability to orchestrate simultaneous activities and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, goals and objectives in a fast-paced environment, and strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to critically assess a situation.

Other areas of focus are as follows:

The confidence to work in coordination with community leaders, university leadership, UA Foundation leadership and a wide variety of individuals.
Excellent and effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and digital engagement expertise.
Intermediate skill level in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to update and maintain web page content, or ability to quickly learn the skills necessary.
Working knowledge of social media, awareness of information and formats used by alumni and donors, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Ability to learn the contact management system and Raiser's Edge, the donor management database.
Familiarity with analyzing & synthesizing complex data.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Ability to represent the university with the highest degree of professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field and four years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Advanced Knowledge of philanthropic support, fundraising, and donor relations and knowledge of industry trends, best practices and technology.

Experience working in a large complex system environment that encompasses diverse communities, people, cultures, and customs preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in an administrative or fundraising setting; experience in higher education or non-profit work environment preferred.
Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 81, based on education and experience.
