Definition of Class

This position cultivates, solicits and stewards prospects locally and regionally for gifts of $1,000 - $25,000 (Leadership Annual Giving). The incumbent plans face-to-face visits, proposals, and asks, to solicit annual gifts from prospects locally and regionally and participates in multiple funding channel activities such as direct mail, email, crowdfunding or calling.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Serves as principal coordinator for fundraising for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.
  • Prepares and coordinates a comprehensive calendar of cultivation and solicitation activities of prospective donors in multiple funding channel activities.
  • Arranges visits with prospective donors via phone, email, and social media to solicit, cultivate and steward prospects and donors.
  • Creates and coordinates direct and electronic mail campaigns.
  • Articulates the vision, mission, and goals of Pathways to Equity (the UM diversity and inclusion strategic plan) and UM schools and unit Equity in Action plans.
  • Attends alumni, donor, college, sporting, DCE, economic development, and other related events.
  • Travels overnight and on weekends to meet with prospective donors and attend relevant convenings as necessary.
  • Works with all development personnel to discuss DCE giving opportunities for major gift donors.
  • Drafts proposals for donors to support UM DCE efforts and programs.
  • Reviews annual fund programs and analyzes related data for evaluation purposes and promptly records interactions with donors in the development database.
  • Coordinates a variety of fundraising campaigns and special projects.
  • Plans and makes projections on new goals/strategies to ensure an upward trend of private gifts for the Annual Fund Program.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

  • Solicits and stewards prospects locally and regionally for gifts of $1,000 - $25,000.
  • Coordinates and participates in multiple funding channel activities.

  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.

    AND


    Experience:
    Two (2) years of experience related to the essential functions of this position.

    Substitution Statement: 

    Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
