Description
The Rhinory is new winery opening in January 2022 in Fredericksburg, Texas, the heart of Texas Hill Country, just 1:15 away from both Austin and San Antonio. There are over 50 wineries in our area and it is the fastest growing wine region in the US. It is a destination spot because of the natural beauty, the thriving restaurant and shopping scene, and diverse things to do in the area. We are offering a unique opportunity for two experienced animal care professionals to take care of the white rhinos and interact with the public. Our 55 acre estate is centrally located on the 290 Wine Trail and will provide the opportunity for the rhino keepers to relay their passion for rhinos directly to the public on a daily basis. Our focus for the keepers is on supporting rhino conservation and educating the guests about rhinos and their situation worldwide. Sales of wine and merchandise through the Rhinory helps financially support non-profit organizations such as the International Rhino Foundation. We started this project to help rhino conservation and need the keepers to be driving that idea forward throughout the day as the liaison between the Rhinory and the customers. The duties / abilities include: • Develops management protocols and standard operating procedures for the rhinos. • Directly responsible for the care/management of the rhinos and expanding the rhino collection. • Ensures compliance with all USDA and other regulatory policies. • Participates in scientific meetings, conferences, and workshops pertaining to rhinos. ($1,000 credit towards meetings given each year) • Excellent communication skills including public speaking and ability to give clear guidance to all team members. • Interact with patrons of the winery and create the educational content they receive • Clean the facility and inspect the facility to ensure safety for the animals and customers
Qualifications
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays. • Ability to obtain a valid TX driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle. • Ability to work indoors/outdoors in temperatures both summer and winter temperatures typical for the area. • Ability to bend down, ambulate quickly and lift 50 pounds. As needed duties: • Help in the tasting room & vineyard management • Other property management tasks
