Position Highlights The Financial Analyst I is a professional position within the Office of Budget and Planning. This role primarily supports senior financial analysts and the broader team by gathering data, performing preliminary financial analysis, and assisting in the maintenance of financial records.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Data Processing:

  • Identify, retrieve, and analyze financial information from various enterprise systems. 
  • Assist with data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • May assist with updating financial databases and spreadsheets with current information.

Report Assistance: 

  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of assigned reports used to ensure proper system maintenance and application of fund management principles.
  • Prepare financial and other ad hoc reports as needed by the Office of Budget and Planning.
  • May conduct preliminary analysis of financial trends
  • Other projects and duties as needed and assigned.

Financial Tracking:

  • Track revenues, expenditures, and changes in fund balances.
  • Ensure funds are used in accordance with management, Arizona Board of Regents, and legislative intent.
  • Report discrepancies or unusual financial activities to supervisor for further investigation
  • Help maintain documentation related to fund management and compliance requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

  • Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and practices.
  • Ability to perform basic financial analyses and interpret data.
  • Precision in handling financial data and reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication for reporting and collaborating with team members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in budget and financial systems.
