Analyst, Assessment
Office of Assessment and Institutional Research
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary

Reporting to the Director of Assessment, the Assessment Analyst advances university assessment efforts, including efforts of both academic programs and administrative units, to support a culture of continuous improvement. To accomplish this, the analyst will work with the Director to serve as an assessment resource for faculty and staff across the university (i.e. educating about developing and identifying objectives, available and appropriate assessment methods, and using the results of the assessments to inform future practices) and will maintain the university academic program and administrative unit electronic assessment records. 


With the guidance of the Director, the analyst will be responsible for additional data collection efforts including survey design and administration and survey result analysis. The analyst will follow data collection and validation with appropriate analysis of results and the development of materials to communicate those results in meaningful ways to multiple audiences through summary reports, visualizations, and online interactive data tools. In addition, the analyst will be responsible for managing the university course evaluation process and the faculty activity reporting system. 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience in developing visualizations and graphic presentations of data and findings. 
• Demonstrated ability in data literacy including data cleansing and producing descriptive analyses.
• Demonstrated ability in survey design and administration (including survey software such as Qualtrics) and qualitative data collection including focus groups and interviews.
• Knowledge and experience with creating rubrics.
• Experience with academic and administrative program and department reviews. 
• Ability to learn new and complex technologies and to maximize their potential.
• Ability to understand end user needs and translate those needs in the context of available solutions and technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills. 
• Ability to manage and balance multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities, when necessary. 
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a field closely related to assessment and/or survey design and analysis (i.e. education, statistics, information sciences, social sciences, etc.). 
• Three years of directly related work experience involving working with data visualization, survey administration, and/or other assessment efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in a field closely related to research or data analysis (i.e. statistics, information sciences, education, social sciences, etc.). 
• Experience with software to create an online interactive data tool (data dashboard)
• Experience with higher education assessment and national survey administration.
• Demonstrated ability in statistical software (i.e. R, SPSS, SAS, STATA, or advanced Excel skills)
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
