Position Summary
The University of North Carolina Office of Graduate Education Department places a high priority on tracking the outcomes of our alumni. Every 2 years we perform an alumni census. We are seeking a part-time assistance from an expert with experience in alumni outcomes tracking and analysis.
The duties of this 120-hour project include:
1) Gather data manually or via machine automation from online sources to determine the current title and employer for 2200 graduate student alumni.
2) Create an algorithm to bin alumni job titles into a 3-tiered taxonomy.
3) Assist with analysis of the resulting data.
This is a remote position and is expected that the employee will devote 5-15 hours per week to the project over the course of 2 to 4 months.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in database creation, analysis, and coding.
Experience curating, cross-checking, validating, and analyzing data in large excel files.
Peer reviewed publication history relating to best practices in graduate education and taxonomic categorization of life sciences career outcomes.
Comprehensive knowledge of trends in life science career options and biomedical workforce development.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
PhD in a Life Science Field.
3+ years of experience collecting alumni outcomes data of PhD trainees.
5+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel to create and trouble shot complex nested formulas.
In-depth understanding of Biomedical and Biological Sciences PhD programs at UNC and variations between those programs.
Proven ability to work remotely with minimal oversight.
Must be available for biweekly check-in meetings with job supervisor.
