The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University is one of eight departments in the College of Natural Sciences. The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as excellence in research. Faculty research interests include algebra, analysis, combinatorics, data science, differential equations, geometry, inverse problems, math education, mathematical modeling, number theory, optimization, scientific computing, topology, as well as applications of all these areas. The Department of Mathematics has over 200 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students, with currently 32 tenured and tenure-track faculty. Colorado State University and the Department of Mathematics provide a highly collaborative and supportive environment; a number of faculty have joint appointments in other departments or are engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations and research projects. Position Summary | The Albert C. Yates Chair in Mathematics will be a tenured faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The appointee shall have excellent teaching skills, a commitment to applied research, a record of community service, and a practical approach to mathematics. The Yates Chair will have the responsibility to:
