Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$83,390.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$87,559.50

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

Airframe & Powerplant Chief position is a member of the Aims Aviation Department, as part of the Public Safety, Education, and Transportation Division. It will lead the Aims Maintenance Training Center (AMTC) located at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland, Colorado. This position will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purposes of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog.
The primary purpose of this position is to be the responsible individual for all aircraft maintenance training conducted at Aims Community College in support of Aims' Aircraft Maintenance Technician School Program including ongoing development of the program, be the responsible individual for ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and Federal Aviation Administration guidance as they pertain to Part 147 (Aircraft Maintenance Technician Schools), and be responsible for the management/regulatory compliance of all manuals, tools, parts, and consumables associated with the aircraft maintenance training at Aims.

Teaching & Advising Students:

  • Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur. To achieve such interaction, a teacher must possess the following:
  • Instruct assignments as it applies to A&P, which may include a variety of A&P courses with the Aims catalog.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure student learning and success.
  • Recruit and advise A&P students.
  • Through A&P student advising, helps to ensure student compliance with the VA.
  • Instructional Delivery: those human interactive skills and characteristics that make for clear communication of information, and promote learning through an effective learning environment.
  • Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
  • Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.

Continual Program Development & Budgetary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure FAA Part 147 aircraft maintenance technology programing is taught, that will include:
  • All FAA requirements of Part 147 A&P program, including meeting the required hours for General and Airframe certification;
  • Alignment of aircraft maintenance technology curriculum and instruction to industry certification exams.
  • A program of practical and technical instruction on theory, practices, methods, processes, and terminology of the aircraft maintenance industry;
  • Demonstration of skills required in the aircraft maintenance industry;
  • Safety precautions, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment, and regulations of the aircraft maintenance industry;
  • Safety examinations prior to allowing students to work with equipment;
  • Ensure student work is planned and supervised in the classroom and in field experiences
  • Develop and implement programmatic curriculum that meet the requirements of the instructional program.
  • Make changes in programming as needed to meet student needs.
  • Program/curriculum evaluation, articulation, revision, and development.
  • Evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resource materials.
  • Effectively manage the budget and allocate resources to ensure that the program remains financially viable and that resources are available for necessary equipment and facilities.
  • Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities, such as grants or partnerships.
  • Analyze market trends and adjust program offerings to meet future industry demands.
  • Evaluate program success based on graduate outcomes and industry feedback.
  • Technology Integration.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies into the training program.
  • Maintain up-to-date training software and simulation equipment.
  • Encourage innovation and technological proficiency among students and faculty.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all compliance and safety measures are being followed as per FAA and Aims Policy and Procedures such as:
  • Safety precautions, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment, and regulations of the aircraft maintenance industry;
  • Safety examinations prior to allowing students to work with equipment;
  • Organization of student records for FAA compliance
  • Maintains FAA compliance to include:
  • Represents the AMTC to the FAA's Principle Operating Inspector (POI) through oral, written, and e-mail correspondence.
  • Ensure quality and compliance through classroom/lab observation.
  • Aids the FAA by cooperating with and participating in audits.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal Aviation regulations by precise recording of student training records, instructor records and student rosters.
  • Conduct meetings with college administration regarding A&P Programmatic issues as needed.
  • Conduct meetings and participate in training events with the Denver Flight Standards District Office as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate manuals, handbooks, and policies are created and updated as needed.

Maintenance:

  • Sourcing aircraft parts, replacement parts, equipment, and consumables, while assessing cost and budget impact.
  • Maintaining all aircraft, lab equipment, and ground support equipment.
  • Hangar maintenance and housekeeping.

Outreach & Professional Development:

  • Assist the department and the college to meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan. Collaborate with other aviation programs both within and outside Aims Community College where applicable.
  • Participate in on-going professional development.
  • Provide competent advising to students seeking an AAS and program certificates.
  • Fulfill College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups.
  • Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one's assigned area.
  • Serve on department, division, and institutional committees.
  • Maintain classrooms and/or labs.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College's mission statement, purpose, philosophy and commitment to diversity.
  • Collaborate with other aviation programs within Aims Community College; support other aviation programs where applicable.
  • Cultivate relationships with aviation industry employers.
  • Develop partnerships for student internships and job placement.
  • Engage with industry advisory boards to keep the program aligned with employer needs.
  • Marketing and Promotion:
  • Develop marketing strategies to attract new students.
  • Represent the program at industry events and conferences.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials and program literature.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation field; plus,
  • Two (2) years of operational aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance instructor experience.

OR

  • Six (6) years of operational aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance instructor experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Must possess FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization.
  • High levels of computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercises sound judgment.
  • Experience in accomplishing complicated tasks.
  • Experience in leading teams.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of operational aircraft maintenance experience
  • Two (2) years of FAA Part 147 experience.
