Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public Health‐Bloomington (SPH‐B) invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure-track (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor) faculty position in the Department of Applied Health Science. The SPH-B seeks individuals who will contribute toward academic excellence in teaching in support of our mission of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. This 12‐month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2024. Continuing the momentum of hiring over 40 outstanding faculty over the last two years, the SPH-B is launching another wave of faculty recruitment. The Department of Applied Health Science, one of five academic departments in the IU SPH-B, unites a multidisciplinary faculty with expertise in global public health; social and behavioral science applied to health; opioids, addictions, and substance use prevention; sexual and reproductive health; nutrition and dietetics; human development and family studies; safety/total worker health/injury prevention; and maternal and child health, all pursuing the common goal of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. The Department of Applied Health Science received more than $4.9 million in external awards in FY2023.

Basic Qualifications
Qualifications: Doctoral or terminal degree in relevant field (PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD), a track record of teaching excellence related to global health, research or professional practice experience working in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) focused on health, experience advising and mentoring students, perspectives and experiences that reflect a strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization.
Preferred qualifications and skills are: Experience supervising or facilitating student internships and/or student projects and research activities in global public health, with supporting peer-reviewed publications. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse faculty are required. Leadership skills and vision for enhancing the academic components of an interdisciplinary department are essential.
Priority consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in at least one of these areas related specifically to global public health: nutrition, implementation science, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, social determinants of health/equity, monitoring and evaluation, and/or project management.
This position is located on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the Bloomington campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community.

Additional Qualifications
Responsibilities: The IU SPH-B is conducting a search for an open-rank Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position in the Department of Applied Health Science, who can lead a new B.S.P.H. program in Global Public Health, teach courses in the program, and mentor our students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. The ideal candidate will 1) bring real-world experience in global health, 2) have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, and 3) have a deep understanding and the ability to convey conceptual knowledge and skills in global health research, practice, and leadership.
This will be a full-time, non-tenure eligible, 12-month academic appointment at the level of Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor, or Clinical Professor. Initial rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The teaching expectation will be six courses per year (three courses in the Fall term and three courses in the Spring term) and management of student internships during the Summer term. Courses taught will be related to one’s interests, expertise, and needs of the program.
