SUMMARY:

The Agricultural Outreach Coordinator will support operations with activities, outreach programs and service events as dictated by the Department Head and Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources (CASNR).  Furthermore, this position will serve as the lead for recruitment and retention efforts for the college. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the operating budget for travel and community engagement with prospective students, community colleges, alumni and industry leaders.
  • Serves to assist with and provide leadership for activities such as:  Mane Event, State FFA Convention, 4-H Round-up, Homecoming, 4-H, FFA, student organizations, public school tours, LDE's, CDE's etc. as directed by the Dean of CASNR.
  • Works with faculty and staff advisors within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
  • Interacts with departmental faculty, assisting them with student engagement and community needs.
  • Assist and leads in the development and implementation of events and programs for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community.
  • Travel off campus and works outside of standard operating hours  to fulfill public relations, events / shows, including but not limited to evening orientations, livestock shows, home and garden shows, alumni chapter events, visiting high schools, etc.
  • Coordinate appropriate social media for the college.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelors of Science in an Agricultural related field OR experience in an agricultural related setting.
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and customer service. Ability to work individually or as a team. Ability to use discretion, tact, diplomacy, and judgment in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and potential students/families of students. Needs to meet the public well and in a professional manner. 
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license
  • Physical Requirements: Capability to drive rental vehicles and university vehicles
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work nights and weekends. Ability to travel.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Master’s degree preferred. Related experience (indirect with transferable skills will be considered, as well as, a combination of part-time positions where applicable).  Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Experience with and ability to make presentations to a wide variety of stakeholders and consumer groups.  Self-directed and motivated and works toward being an effective problem solver.

Prior related outreach experience. Familiar with social media and web page development for purposes of communicating with all stakeholders for CASNR; including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Word Press.
