Description of Work Unit
The Department of Agricultural Biology is committed to excellence in the creation and dissemination of knowledge about insects, plant pathogens, and weeds in agricultural, natural, and urban ecosystems. Our mission is to enhance human well-being by improving ecosystem sustainability. In addition to generating new knowledge, we apply knowledge in entomology, plant pathology, and plant sciences to solving practical problems related to biotic and abiotic plant stress, integrated pest management, and ecosystem health. People in Agricultural Biology participate in and value cooperative and collaborative efforts with other units within the University, as well as with individual stakeholders and other organizations in Colorado and beyond. We hold ourselves to a standard of excellence in teaching, research, extension, and service and act according to the Principles of Community .

Position Summary
Contract, Continuing, or Temporary/Adjunct Faculty (CCAF) positions may open in order to address teaching and instruction needs in the department. This pool is specific to the Teaching Career Pathway which includes classification as an Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Master Instructor.
Conditions of Employment Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)
Required Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution for Instructor level appointment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
  • Additional required qualifications, classification and appointment terms including salary determined by specific position to be filled.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by course start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.

Instructor: Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution and limited professional experience
Senior Instructor: Instructor or Master’s degree and five years relevant professional experience
Master instructor: Senior Instructor appointment or terminal/equivalent degree in discipline related field plus 10 years relevant professional experience
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in a higher education setting.
