What we want

Howdy! The Texas A&M Aggie STEM Department is looking for enthusiastic, problem-solving Aggie students to serve as counselors for our 2023 Aggie STEM Summer Camps (ASSC). ASSC provides 3rd-12th grade students with real-world STEM experiences and STEM education under the guidance of world-class Texas A&M University professors in STEM fields. Our camp counselors are essential to our mission to help familiarize our students with Texas A&M University’s rigorous academics, honor code, and Aggie culture. What you need to know

Hourly pay rate: $13.00

We are currently offering day and night counselor positions. Employment with Aggie STEM Summer Camps is need-based and is dependent upon the number of campers registered for each session. Both day and night counselors are expected to fully participate in all aspects of camp life. Night counselors will be required to stay on-site with campers overnight in the dorm rooms provided. Day counselors are expected to have their own housing. Currently we are planning to have camps on the following dates:

  • June 11-June 17 Session 1

  • June 19-June 23 Session 2

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience using/involving STEM.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to be flexible and/or open availability for the month of June. Ability to participate in all aspects of camp life.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Camp Counselor - At the direction of the camp director(s), provides instruction, demonstration, and assistance to campers. Adheres to high standards and to serve as role models for our campers. Both day and night counselors are expected to fully participate in all aspects of camp life. Day counselors will assist instructors on campus during the day and will be responsible for keeping campers on-task and engaged during lessons, panels, and lab tours. Night counselors will look after campers in the evening during extracurricular activities and will be on-call overnight and performs other duties as assigned.
