Job Description

Who We Are:

The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is an internationally recognized leader in emergency response training, workforce training and technical assistance. The major TEEX programs include fire and rescue, infrastructure and safety, law enforcement, economic and workforce development, and homeland security.

About the Role:

The Agency Instructor I will be responsible for utilizing their knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. The Instructor will perform classroom and field instruction and/or provide technical assistance and use a variety of media to present course material, and assist in modifying and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner needs. This position reports to the Training Manager, Executive Programs.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (equivalency:  will consider an Associate’s degree with six years of experience in a leadership role at the local, state or federal level in any combination of the following areas: fire, law enforcement, public health, healthcare, emergency medical services, emergency management, public works, public safety, hazardous materials, public information, the military, and/or government administration or a High School Diploma/GED with eight years of experience in a leadership role at the local, state or federal level in any combination of the following areas: fire, law enforcement, public health, healthcare, emergency medical services, emergency management, public works, public safety, hazardous materials, public information, the military, and/or government administration

  • Four years’ experience in a leadership role at the local, state or federal level in any combination of the following areas: fire, law enforcement, public health, healthcare, emergency medical services, emergency management, public works, public safety, hazardous materials, public information, the military, and/or government administration

  • One years’ experience in adult education and/or training and a background in training concepts and programs

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • U.S. Passport (or ability to obtain one in six months)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to support training delivery for up to 8-10 hours/day (standing)

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing

  • Ability to use standard office and presentation equipment such as computer, keyboard, projector and printer

  • Ability to lift, carry, load or unload up to 50 lbs. of instructional materials

  • Physical conditioning consistent with setting up classrooms, movement of training equipment

  • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines

Notifications:

  • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

  • This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.

  • This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.

  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
