Position Summary:

UDRI is seeking a mid- to senior-level engineer having experience in the areas of modeling and simulation, control theory, and data analysis as applied to physical systems, preferably aircraft actuators and structures. Candidate will support modeling, simulation, and controls work for aircraft actuator design and testing. Candidate will also support design/redesign, modeling, certification, and sustainment of aircraft structural components for military and commercial customers. Significant experience with MATLAB and Simulink software is required. Knowledge of advanced control algorithms is preferred. Candidate should be able to work independently either as a Principal Investigator or as a key contributor on high performance teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum requirements for R2:
-- BS (plus 3 years of relevant experience), or MS (plus 2 years of relevant experience), or PhD (plus 1 year of relevant experience) in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related degree, from ABET accredited institutions.
-- 3 years of experience using MATLAB including model and simulation development, as well as data analysis.
-- 1 year of experience with Simulink.
-- Equivalent and directly enabling model and simulation software experience can be considered.
-- Fluent in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
-- Candidate should be able to work independently either as a Principal Investigator or as a key contributor on high performance teams.
-- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-- Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.
-- The candidate must be able to pass a National Agency Check.

Minimum requirements for R3 are same as for R2, but also must include:
-- BS (plus 8 years of relevant experience), or MS (plus 7 years of relevant experience), or PhD (plus 6 years of relevant experience) in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related degree, from ABET accredited institutions.
-- 6 years of experience using MATLAB for model and simulation development, as well as data analysis.
-- 3 years of experience with Simulink.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-- Simulink experience modeling dynamic systems and advanced controllers.
-- Knowledge of flight dynamics for modeling aircraft flight profiles.
-- Experience with advanced controllers such as nonlinear dynamic inversion.
-- Ability to implement hardware-in-the-loop models using real time control.
-- Experience creating and managing large data sets in various formats: binary MAT-files, Excel, CSV.
-- Experience managing an engineering program’s budget, schedule, personnel, and workload.
