Interdisciplinary research scientist (PhD) in air quality, aerosols, and environmental health

Colorado State University has an immediate opening for an aerosol research scientist.  This position sits in the Center for Energy Development and Health (CEDH) under the supervision of Professor John Volckens, Department of Mechanical Engineering, in the Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering.  The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of engineering and environmental health with a focus on air quality, exposure science, and aerosol physics. Current projects in the CEDH include development and deployment of wearable technologies for human exposure assessment, crowdsourced sensor technologies for outdoor and indoor air quality, and implementation science for clean, renewable energy in resource limited environments.  The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in the area(s) engineering, environmental health / exposure science, or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in data science (e.g., R programming, Python), air quality instrumentation, exposure assessment, field studies, and/or community-based participatory research. Preference will also be given to candidates with strong interpersonal skills, oral/written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a transdisciplinary team environment.

The position is full-time with a multi-year duration, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
