ADVISING & ENROLLMENT SPECIALIST 
Haslam Undergraduate Programs
Regular Full-Time, Market Range 7
(Multiple Positions)

The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an Advising & Enrollment Specialist (Full-time, Exempt) in the Undergraduate Programs Office. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Advising and Enrollment Specialist will be a key member of the Haslam College of Business Undergraduate Programs team, responsible for providing specialized support for undergraduate academic advising services, enrollment management, and various special projects. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a seamless and enriching academic experience for undergraduate students, contributing to their success, and supporting the college's mission and goals.

 



Qualifications

 

Responsibilities:

  • College Advising Services
    • Collaborate with academic advisors to facilitate effective academic planning and course selection for undergraduate students.
    • Coordinate and respond to general academic advising inquiry and email as it relates to college academic advising policies and operations, course registration, and system troubleshooting.
    • Coordinate the internal transfer/change of major process. Deliver information sessions on the HCB undergraduate curriculum, programs, and policies. Provide initial advising services for students seeking to transfer into the college. Assist students in course selection and registration.
    • Serve as initial point of contact for readmission students. Provide advising services for students seeking to return to the university. Assist students in course selection and registration.
    • Develop resources to support advising practice.
    • Review and process academic petitions. Collaborate with directors, advisors, and administrative staff on process workflow.
    • Assist with advisement of new student advising and additional student populations.
  • Enrollment and Data Management
    • Maintain accurate student records, ensuring data integrity in the advising and enrollment systems.
    • Generate reports, analyze data, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve advising and enrollment services.
    • Work with various enrollment management processes within the unit.
    • Provide support for timetable scheduling and review, degree audit systems, and uTrack.
    • Collaborate with directors and academic advisors on application processing and review related to admission to major, graduation checks, course waitlists, and grade verifications.
  • Special Projects & Other Duties
    • Assist in the development and testing of advising technology solutions
    • Assist with planning and implementation of events
    • Attend unit and college meetings
    • Participate in professional development activities
    • Support college advising initiatives and special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications and Experience:
    • Experience working with students in a college or university setting
    • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Desired Qualifications and Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience within academic advising, enrollment management, or other higher education role
    • Experience within quality service operations
    • Master’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Required:
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Administrative and organizational skills with the ability to handle simultaneous projects
    • Ability to utilize technology that supports students and professional advising practice
    • Ability to pull, analyze, and make decisions based on various reports and data sets
