The Data & Analysis team in UVU’s fundraising area of the university is a creative and dynamic place to grow, develop, and perform. We provide the fundraising division and university partners with data, analysis, technology, systems support, and reporting to advance fundraising for the university.
As our Advancement Business Systems Analyst III & Application Integration Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our business processes and reporting functions through effective integration solutions. Working closely with our Institutional Advancement and data teams, you'll analyze business systems, identify improvement opportunities, and implement solutions to ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility. Your contributions will empower our Institutional Advancement team to engage donors, track campaigns, and make informed, data-driven decisions. 


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Institutional Advancement business stakeholders to understand business requirements, goals, and objectives. Conduct in-depth analysis of existing business systems and processes to identify areas for improvement. Identify, research, suggest, and implement enhancements to improve efficiency through technology solutions. Lead integration projects from inception to completion, ensuring deliverables ae met on time and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, IT, and external vendors.
  • Design, develop, and implement integration solutions to connect disparate systems and applications. Create and maintain connections, integrations, and automations to and from the database. Implement automation processes to streamline data entry and map/update data flow between systems. Evaluate integration requirements, including data mapping, transformation, and synchronization. Implement and maintain middleware platforms, APIs, and data integration tools. Troubleshoot integration issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on new systems and integration processes. Create user documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles. Supervise and provide technical support to data team business analysts as assigned. Facilitate and actively participate in cross-training across the data team and provide learning opportunities for growth & development.
  • Evaluate and recommend new database tools or solutions when necessary. Provide technology support to Institutional Advancement users including support for third party applications. Work with third party technology vendors and department representatives to ensure an efficient deployment and maintain any necessary system changes that arise. Suggest and strategize for any modules or other upgrades to the system based on user needs and overall system performance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of business systems analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and data-driven decision-making. Perform other job duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology OR a related discipline plus a minimum of two years of directly related experience
  • OR any combination of education and related experience totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, OR a related discipline plus a minimum of five years of directly related experience. 
  • Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Database Administrator, preferably in a fundraising or nonprofit environment. 
  • Familiarity with using data in an institutional research setting is desirable and preferred.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge    

  • Strong background in databases with experience in data management and flow.
  • Understanding of complex data systems integrations including APIs.
  • Knowledge of analytical and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qualtrics, Excel, Access, or other related programs.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of data integration and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of programing languages such as Python, VM, Machine Language or similar related tools and languages.
Skills    
  •  Strong technical skills related to the technologies described in the essential duties.
  • Proficiency in integration technologies such as APIs, web services, ETL tools, SFTP file, and messaging systems.
  • Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, PSQL, MySQL) and database languages (SQL). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Skilled in the following practices: project management, software vendor management, change management and data security.
  • Skilled in computers, computer applications, web-based software, Microsoft Suite products, communication tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effectively conveying complex information simply and presenting information to individuals and/or groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and skilled in working within teams and in supporting numerous system users.
Abilities    
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and security.
  • Ability to think critically, manage and respond to complex issues and multiple priorities. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel and team members.
